What is FinYology? –
FinTech for Youth

FinYology is an educational initiative that aims to empower and educate young individuals about financial technology (FinTech) and its potential impact on their lives.

FinYology – FinTech for Youth Graded Projects

Aim to raise awareness on FinTech among university undergrad students since 2020, in addition to exploring young talent by encouraging and supporting the creation of innovative FinTech solutions to modern-day financial problem statements in Egypt. These projects are designed to enhance students’ understanding of FinTech concepts, foster creativity and encourage critical and business thinking. By integrating graded FinTech projects into the curriculum, we aim to make FinTech education more practical, relevant and enjoyable for students.

Implementation Mechanism

Each year participating universities from 9 different majors from business and innovation to engineering and computer science, gets grouped to participate to showcase their projects in each university during the semester, where they pitch their innovative solutions to a committee composed of experts from the Central Bank of Egypt, sponsoring banks, startups and professors of each university, the winning students are offered training programs in order to refine their expertise and skills and are granted a certificate of participation.

"FinTech Got Talent" competition is one of the first national FinTech competitions across Egypt which is held for all winners of the "FinYology" graded projects among the participating universities in collaboration between the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) and FinTech Egypt annually.  It aims to select the top three "qualified for winning" ideas presented by the participating universities, with the presence of the banks operating in Egypt, startups working in the field of financial technology in the Egyptian market, to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, with the chance to win prizes and participate in a pre-incubator program (Mint by EGbank).

FinTech got Talent Round 2023

The "FinTech Got Talent" competition showcased the skills and innovative ideas of 10 teams from Egyptian universities. After a series of pitches, the top 3 teams were selected as the winners, recognized by H.E. Mr. Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for their strategic thinking and innovation.

The competition not only rewarded the top performers, but provided valuable learning experiences for all participants. It fostered teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving thereby preparing the students for the evolving FinTech industry.

Overall, the event celebrated the immense potential and creativity within Egypt's university community, highlighting future leaders in FinTech. The competition was a milestone in promoting innovation, talent development, and collaboration among universities, paving the way for future editions to further advance entrepreneurship and technological progress in the financial sector.

Incubator Program and Arab FinTech Challenge

FinYology ‘Fintech Got Talent’ at Seamless North Africa 2023 were granted a 4 months incubation program imbued with technical support, mentorship and experience sharing at MINT Hub, for a fully customized FinTech for Youth Initiative.

This program brought together 7 teams from 7 universities on an incredible journey of mentorship, technical support and experience sharing. They transformed their business ideas into realistic models, we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments.

Arab FinTech Challenge (AFTC) is the first Regional program for university students with innovative ideas in the area of Financial Technologies and related fields.

AFTC is highly focused on raising the technical know-how of the FinTech industry for participants from universities and helping them apply their ideas in those areas and competing on a global level.

The first Round of AFTC was powered by FinTech Egypt, organized by Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship (GIA), Egyptian students of AUC and Egyptian Chinese university where sponsored by Mint EGbank. The competition took place during the event of GITEX DUBAI.

FinYology students from AUC made it to the first place competing against UAE, Jordan & Lebanon in GITEX-UAE.

Fundementals of FinTech Course

The course aims to be integrated as an elective course into undergraduate programs across various universities. By collaborating with educational institutions, we will develop comprehensive curricula that introduce students to the fundamental concepts, technologies, and applications of FinTech. These curricula will be designed to cater to students from different academic backgrounds, ensuring that all undergraduate students have access to FinTech education.
